Ashtanga
Ashtanga Yoga in the tradition of Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois combines a precise sequence of postures with a controlled breathing technique “Ujjayi Pranayama”. Ashtanga Yoga builds strength, flexibility, and radiant health and well-being. It is characterized by Vinyasa, the synchronized flowing movement of body and breath that connects the postures in a seamless continuity of practice. As the body detoxifies, a strong purifying sweat may be produced. The organs are toned, and flexibility and strength are gradually increased. Breathing is deepened. With regular practice over time, inner qualities are cultivated as well. The practice is demanding and the rewards are great. All levels welcome - comes as you are, come prepared to sweat!
Power Yoga
This class is based upon intuition rather than traditional formats. You will be led through a series powerful Vinyasas, at a pace everyone can enjoy, while integrating the functions of the mind, body, and breathe all at the same time. We will work on a challenging mix of poses (different each time) for a balanced practice that will leave you feeling refreshed and alive. Come prepared to sweat!
Slow Flow*
This class is great for anyone looking for: a slower pace without sacrificing the "heat" of a vinyasa practice; a deep stretch experience; a therapeutic approach to postures. (This class is taught in a warm room, a comfortable 85 degrees)
Vinyasa
Vinyasa is a dynamic form of yoga that focuses on the integration of breath and movement, strength and flexibility. Vinyasa is practiced in a heated room (a comfortable 90-95 degrees) to encourage an energetic flow through creative sequencing. Vinyasa classes are designed to enliven the body and the spirit! The level of intensity and the music played depends on the style of the teacher. Come prepared to sweat and have fun!
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is the relaxed practice of floor postures for three to five minutes at a time. It is the ideal complement to more muscular or “Yang” forms of Yoga. A Yin practice emphasizes the connective tissues of the hips, thighs, pelvis and lower spine. In this way it prepares the body and the mind for longer meditation practices. By drawing the student’s awareness away from the muscles and deeper into the bones a deep level of relaxed focus is achieved.
*This class is recommended for first time yoga students..
